Doctor Who: Get your first look at Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord
- TV Show
The BBC has given us our first proper look at the sartorial style Jodie Whittaker will be sporting as the titular Time Lord in the corporation’s long-running time travel show Doctor Who. Early Thursday, the official Doctor Who Twitter account posted an image of Whittaker dressed in pants, suspenders, long coat, and striped shirt, standing in front of her character’s time-and-spaceship, the TARDIS.
It was announced in July that the Broadchurch star had been cast as the Doctor by new showrunner Chris Chibnall. Whittaker is the first woman to play the part.
“I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey — with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet. It’s more than an honor to play the Doctor,” Whittaker said in a statement at the time. “It means remembering everyone I used to be while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait.”
Whittaker will make her first appearance as the Doctor on this year’s special Christmas episode of the science fiction show, which will be broadcast by BBC America.
