The 'Transparent' star denies that he 'acted in an improper manner'
Amazon has opened up an investigation into Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor after sexual harassment allegations were made against him, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed to EW. No other details are available at this time, as the investigation is in its early stages.
According to the statement Tambor gave to Deadline, a “former disgruntled assistant” claims he “acted in an improper manner toward her.” The site reports that this assistant made those claims in a private Facebook post, to which EW does not have access.
“I am aware that a former disgruntled assistant of mine has made a private post implying that I had acted in an improper manner toward her,” said Tambor. “I adamantly and vehemently reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any improper behavior toward this person or any other person I have ever worked with.” He added, “I am appalled and distressed by this baseless allegation.”
In a statement to EW, Transparent creator Jill Soloway said, “Anything that would diminish the level of respect, safety, and inclusion so fundamental to our workplace is completely antithetical to our principles. We are cooperating with the investigation into this matter.”
Last month, Amazon Studios head Roy Price resigned after Man in the High Castle executive producer Isa Dick Hackett alleged that Price propositioned her at San Diego Comic-Con in 2015. Amazon also cut ties with The Weinstein Co. following the deluge of sexual misconduct allegations made against Harvey Weinstein, who has denied them all.
