Ron Livingston was told to lose weight for his Office Space screen test
The actor was told he 'didn't look like a leading man'
Loudermilk star Ron Livingston looked back on his most unforgettable roles when he stopped by Entertainment Weekly: The Show, and revealed an awkward element of his audition for Office Space. The actor remembers the studio wanting him to lose weight because he didn’t “look like a leading man, which I didn’t.” When his agent called him to schedule the screen test, he was told, “But one thing: they’re wondering if you can fast between now and Tuesday. They just think that it would be nice if you could lose a few pounds.”
“I fasted for maybe four hours and then I was like, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it,'” Livingston admitted.
He also shared memories of playing Jack Berger, the infamous man known for breaking up with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) via Post-It in Sex and The City: “I would’ve always thought that ‘he’s just not that into you’ would be the thing that that character was identified with, but man, once that Post-It thing happened – nope.”
The first season of Loudermilk is a product of writer-director Peter Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber) and Bobby Mort (The Colbert Report), it consists of 10 episodes directed by Farrelly. Laura Mennell, Anja Savcic, Toby Levins, Mark Brandon, and Timothy Webber also star in the show. The series currently airs on the Audience Network.
