Stranger Things breaks Twitter records over Halloween weekend
While you were out dressed up as Eleven for Halloween over the weekend, the real Eleven has been making moves as a young social media mogul from the Upside Down.
Since the second season of the show premiered at 12:01 a.m. ET this past Friday, the supernatural preteen has been crowned the most-tweeted about character from Stranger Things, which isn’t surprising since Millie Bobby Brown is becoming a bonafide social media star herself. Eleven is followed by Will, Steve, Hopper, and Dustin in terms of Twitter popularity, but honestly, D’Artagnan the Pollywog deserves some more love. At least Steve Harrington is getting his due.
The show has also broken Twitter records by becoming the most-tweeted about streaming program during an opening weekend of 2017 with more than 3.7 million tweets and counting.
Also according to the people over at Twitter, these are the emojis that fans used the most to represent the season in order of popularity:
- A smiling face with sunglasses
- An upside down smiling face (oh, we get it!)
- The laughing so hard that you’re crying face
- The heart-eyes
- A simple, sweet smile
For those of you who haven’t finished bingeing it yet, take that as you will.
