The boys are back!
It all started on YouTube, back in 2012, as a web series created by Kit Williamson. Five years later it has evolved into an Emmy-nominated show thanks to its dark and hilarious depiction of gay life in L.A. And now, EW has an exclusive first look at the much-anticipated season 3 of EastSiders.
The new season shows Cal (Williamson) and his lover Thom (Van Hansis) trying to piece their life together after an adventurous and somewhat problematic year in New York City. The boys hit the road back home to L.A. on what looks like the road trip of their lives. On their journey back to normality the couple is tested several times, and if the trailer is any indication, they deal with their tribulations the only way the know how: drinking, meeting guys, and loving each other.
RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Willam Belli is showing off his acting chops this season; as seen in the trailer, Belli’s character (an L.A. drag queen) has a hilarious meltdown as she tries to figure out her life. Season 3 also sees the return of old friends, including Stephen Guarino and Fresh off the Boat’s Constance Wu. But there are also plenty of new faces coming to stir things up, including High Maintenance’s Colby Keller and Star Trek: Discovery’s Wilson Cruz.
“It’s been a whirlwind year shooting the new season of EastSiders on location in 16 states, and we’re beyond excited to share six new episodes with everyone this November,” Williamson said in a statement, “It’s also been incredible to take the show on the road and meet so many fans at festivals across the country, and we are thrilled to bring an exclusive preview screening of the first episode to NewFest in New York this Saturday.”
EastSiders season 3 premieres Nov. 28 on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and other digital platforms, and is available for pre-order on DVD here. Before that, though, as Williamson mentioned, the first episode will screen on Saturday, Oct. 21 as part of NewFest’s episodic showcase.
