For Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa, tackling conspiracies and secret relationships was a big part of creating the narrative for season 1 of The CW’s Valor, a new military drama series that follows an elite unit of helicopter pilots.

“There’s this trust and transparency that they have to have in order to do their job right,” Barr told EW. “That’s an intimate thing and it can be real sexy too when you have that with someone. I think that’s something that they are trying to define. Does it go deeper?”

The two appear to become romantically linked after finding themselves as the only two who know a secret behind a rescue mission gone wrong. The problem is, Christina Ochoa’s character also has a boyfriend, causing a lot of internal conflict.

“She’s figuring out if what she feels for [Barr’s character] is actually conflicting with what she feels with her boyfriend and the love that she has with Ian. Or, if she is just feeling these things because of the circumstances and because of the situation,” she said.
