Scott Michael Foster promises we’ll be getting a lot more from his character, Nathaniel, on this season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

When EW caught up with him on Wednesday at PEOPLE’s Ones to Watch party, Foster promised that the third season of the CW show will be filled with “a lot more songs.”

“We’ve got episodes with four songs in it this season,” he says. “You think it would get stale or some of the songs would repeat in a way, but every week they come up with new genres and new styles. They are that creative to keep it fresh and keep all the songs and music really innovative.”

Foster says that the musical numbers will include several more entries from him (his duet with Rebecca “Let’s Have Intercourse” was a fan favorite last season). “I’ve got my own number in episode three and then again in episode nine we’ve got a fun, sexy number that I do with White Josh,” he teases.

The season will also bring more character growth for Nathaniel and his perfectionist lawyer persona. “At the end of last season, you saw her [Rebecca] start to kind of make him have feelings and be a nice guy and he kind of liked that,” Foster says. “So you start to see Nathaniel exploring being a nice person and Rebecca brings it out of him, so that creates sort of a draw for them. So you’ll see a lot more of them together for sure.”

The third season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
