Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ups Natalia Cordova-Buckley to series regular for season 5
There’s definitely more Yo-Yo coming your way when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season 5.
Natalia Cordova-Buckley, who stars as the speedy Inhuman, has been promoted to series regular for the ABC drama’s upcoming fifth season, Marvel Television announced Thursday.
Introduced in season 3, Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez is an Inhuman with the ability to run a superspeed for the duration of a heartbeat before being yanked back to her initial starting place, hence the name Yo-Yo. In season 4, Yo-Yo developed a romantic relationship with Mack (Henry Simmons). The last time we saw the two lovers was in the finale when they, along with the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, were kidnapped and transported to outer space.
“Natalia is a powerhouse in her work and in her daily life, and she has imbued one of our favorite characters with her natural strength and humor. Natalia was instantly a part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. family the first day she walked onto set, and we’re happy she’s now an official member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team,” said executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell in a statement on Marvel.com.
As of now, ABC has yet to schedule Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s return date, but in the meantime, fans can check out Marvel’s Inhumans, which airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
