Outlander premiere scores record ratings

Outlander‘s return to Starz on Sept. 10 achieved a record high viewership of nearly 1.5 million live-plus-same viewers for the 8 p.m. premiere, which grew to 2.09 million viewers over its three airings, the pay network reports. It’s the best season premiere of a Starz show after Power season 3 (2.26 million) and Power season 4 (1.68 million). It might have been even bigger, if it weren’t for the hurricane-affected markets, the network believes.

The Outlander season 3 performance of 2.09 million is also a series best for the drama, and that includes the all-important “The Wedding” episode (2.04 million).

The premiere also earned bragging rights in other demos. It achieved records in women 18-plus (948,000), women 35+ (899,000), and adults 50 and over (1.05M million).

Outlander airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
