The Last Tycoon has already reached its last season at Amazon. The streaming service has opted to cancel its F. Scott Fitzgerald-based series after a single season, EW can confirm.

The nine-episode first run starred Matt Bomer as Monroe Stahr, a hotshot Hollywood studio executive in the 1930s desperately trying to get a movie made about his late wife while struggling with his mentor. Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins also starred.

The Last Tycoon was based on Fitzgerald’s unfinished novel of the same name. The series began streaming on July 28, though it received mixed critical reviews.

News of its cancellation comes mere days after it was revealed that Amazon gave the axe to another series from the era, Z: The Beginning of Everything, about Fitzgerald’s wife, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report the news.
