Chance: Hugh Laurie rejects pain and misery in moody season 2 teaser
The doctor is in!
Hugh Laurie returns as a tormented forensic neuropsychiatrist in this exclusive teaser for season 2 of Hulu’s Chance. As we see in the very moody clip, the Dr. Eldon Chance (Laurie) we’ll meet this season is a changed man following the events of season 1. (Killing a man will do that to you.) He’s no longer content with just pushing paper through a broken system and merely listening to his patients’ problems. Now, he wants to — no, he must — do something about it.
“We sit with so much misery and numbness and distress and fear. It’s only a threshold after which I could not sit and inhale my patients’ pain without doing something,” says Chance in the promo. “And so I did. And I breathed it out. And in that breath was fire — and I liked it.”
Luckily for him, Detective Kevin Hynes (Brian Goodman) is there to help him do just that. In season 2, the detective coerces Chance into helping him take down a serial killer. According to the new season’s logline, “Chance finds himself ‘laying in the nest’ of the killer, in a dangerous game to prove the man guilty. His reckless behavior also puts him at odds with D [Ethan Suplee], who has begun to question the black and white nature of his own vigilantism. When the walls of the system collapse in on him, Chance is forced to reassess his life’s work and questions if violence is really the answer.”

Chance premieres Wednesday, Oct. 11 on Hulu.
