Eleanor tries to summon Janet, while Michael tries to avoid retirement
Earlier this year, The Good Place delivered the shock of the season-finale season by turning everything you thought you knew about this heavenly series upside down. (Spoiler alert: Welcome to eternal damnation. Population: Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason.)
Now that the Good Place is the Bad Place, the afterlife comedy starring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell will return for a second season to unleash some hella fun hijinks, as Eleanor (Bell) and her friends have had their minds by Michael (Danson) wiped so he can start that torture experiment all over again. While you wait patiently two more weeks for the season to kick off, EW brings you this sneak peek from the season 2 premiere. As you will see, Eleanor found the note she wrote to herself in a panic and slipped into the mouth of Janet (D’Arcy Carden) — which instructed her to find Chidi (William Jackson Harper) — and she’s trying to summon Janet again, but can’t quite recall her name. Meanwhile, Michael chats with his boss, Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson), who seems fairly convinced that this experiment will fail again, dooming Michael to a most painful “retirement.”
Season 2 of The Good Place kicks off with a one-hour premiere at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 on NBC, and then moves to its regular Thursday-at-8:30 p.m. slot on Sept. 28.
