Thanks to social media, we already know Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) survives that massive blaze that ended the fifth season of Chicago Fire in an epic cliffhanger. But, until now, there were no signs of life for Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), who broke our hearts in that finale with his “you’re my miracle” goodbye speech to his wife, Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund).

Alas, EW can exclusively reveal the Chicago Fire season 6 posters and there, front and center (OK, a little to the right), is Casey standing alongside Severide, Dawson, Boden (Eamonn Walker), and Brett (Kara Kilmer). He may not be smiling, but we sure are. Dawsey fans can live to dream another day!

Of course, this doesn’t actually confirm anything about Casey’s mortality. In fact, we’d probably read even more into it if Spencer didn’t appear in these images.

One thing we do know is that the tagline — “A family of heroes” — is indeed an overarching theme of the upcoming season. “We’ve said you’ve got your firehouse family and you’ve got your family outside and how those affect each other — but we’re really going to delve into that this year,” executive producer Derek Haas told EW. “We’re going to be seeing more characters coming out of family members’ lives, some that we’ve seen before, some that we’ll meet for the first time, but getting a little bit more outside of the firehouse, but only in so much as it affects us on shift.”

Chicago Fire returns Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
