SPOILER ALERT: It's not fun

Living on the moon isn’t as awesome as it sounds, according to the cast of Marvel’s Inhumans.

ABC’s latest Marvel series tells the never-before-told adventures of King Black Bolt (Anson Mount) and the Inhumans Royal Family. When we meet them in the series premiere, they reside on the moon with the rest of their subjects, who are trapped in an unfair caste system that favors those with amazing powers and forces those in society with rubbish powers or none at all to live in the mines. However, one member of the royal family, Black Bolt’s rebellious human brother Maximus (Iwan Rheon), is looking to change that.

“They can’t live on the moon forever. Their resources are running out. So, they need to somehow figure out a way to integrate into the human world,” Rheon tells EW in the video above. “He wants to abolish this archaic caste system, which has hundreds of people living in misery for the benefit of the top.”

Obviously, this sets Maximus at odds with his brother, who can’t speak because his voice is so powerful that it could destroy a city. “It’s a battle between the two brothers with opposing views, but both you completely understand. So it’s really interesting. Neither is a villain, neither is a hero ” says Serinda Swan, who plays Black Bolt’s wife Medusa.

Marvel’s Inhumans opens in IMAX Sept. 1 before making its official debut Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
