What's the No. 1 rule about viewing a solar eclipse? Don't look directly at it. President Trump either didn't get the memo or didn't hear his aides shouting, "Don't look," so he did — but The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah has a different take on why the mishap occurred.

"Apparently the president's aides were really worried about him," Noah said in a segment on Monday. "So they told him not to look directly into the sun, and Donald Trump was like, ‘Don't worry about me. That's my policy. Every day, don't look at the son.'" He continued his impression as a photo of Trump's son, Eric, emerged. "‘Don't talk to the son and definitely don't celebrate the son's birthday — nothing.'"

Noah was also surprised Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were viewing the solar eclipse together. "Two minutes of total darkness? That should have been her chance to escape," he joked.

The Comedy Central personality also pinpointed another standout from the eclipse viewing party at the White House: Jeff Sessions. "Look at Jeff Sessions. He looks so adorable," Noah said of the attorney general's awestruck reaction. "It's like he's watching Santa ride off into the sky with all the toys he helped make."
