But what does this mean for Katie and Greg?

Veep‘s Dan Egan has a new journalism job lined up — sort of. Reid Scott, who stars as the overly ambitious campaign-manager-turned-CBS-morning-show-anchor-turned-Meyer-team-member-again on HBO’s satirical political comedy, is headed for a multi-episode arc in NBC’s Great News, EW has learned exclusively.

The actor will recur in the second season of the Tina Fey-produced sitcom as Jeremy, a highly intelligent New York Times reporter who first appears in the fourth episode. Sparks fly between Jeremy and Katie (Briga Heelan) when they work together to cover a dangerous story, and the two eventually begin dating. (Looks like Katie, who previously dated Tommy Dewey’s freelance photographer Trip, has a type.)

And while that’s, well, great news for Katie, it’s less so for fans of Katie and Greg (Adam Campbell), who came thisclose to kissing in the season 1 finale. But creator and EP Tracey Wigfield (who also stars as MMN meteorologist Beth Vierk) says not to worry: “The Katie-Greg stuff is definitely in the background,” she says. “Hopefully it will come to a head in some exciting way towards the later part of the season.” Besides, Greg still has his Cat — you know, his girlfriend Cat, not an actual domesticated pet.

Great News returns Thursday, Sept. 28, at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
