The saga of Teresa Mendoza isn’t over yet. USA announced Thursday that Queen of the South, starring Alice Braga, has been formally renewed for a third season.

Executive produced by Natalie Chaidez and David T. Friendly, Queen of the South marks Thursday night’s No. 1 cable series among viewers between the ages 18-49, as well as the night’s No. 1 cable drama among viewers 25-54, adults 18-34, and overall viewers year to date. The current season has brought in an average of 2 million viewers.

Season 2 premiered earlier this June and continues Thursday night at 10 p.m. ET with an episode featuring the debut of Mexican-American rapper Snow Tha’ Product. Her song, “Run That,” was featured earlier on the show’s soundtrack, but she now appears as gang leader Lil’ Traviesa (a.k.a. Lil’ T).

Teresa, having been forced to flee Mexico by the drug cartel and into America, now aligns herself with Camila Vargas (Veronica Falcone), the estranged wife of her enemy. As shown in a clip from Thursday’s episode, Camila needs Teresa to maintain the “status quo” while she’s behind bars.

The season 2 finale will air on USA Thursday, Aug. 31, while season 3 will premiere at some point in 2018.
