Game of Thrones isn’t the only hot show that’s been leaked online recently.
EW has confirmed that the final episodes from Power, the most popular show on Starz, were accessed via the network’s press portal and posted on social media. It appears the leaker streamed the episodes via a cracked iPhone and then posted video of them playing on his Facebook page, according to Torrent Freak.
It also seems the leaker may have filmed himself talking about the video he swiped. So Starz may not have to break much of a sweat finding the perpetrator! In the short term, though, Starz took down its press portal.
“The final three episodes of Power’s fourth season were leaked online due to a breach of the press screening room,” said a Starz spokesperson. “This seems to be a case of password sharing that resulted in homemade videos of the episodes which were taped off a TV screen and posted online. STARZ has begun forensic investigations and will take legal action against the responsible parties.”
Last week, episode 4 of HBO’s Game of Thrones was leaked online before its premiere on Sunday. Though the pay network was the victim of a major hack which EW first reported, the recent episode, dubbed “The Spoils of War,” was actually leaked from Star India, one of HBO’s international network partners.
If Starz is lucky, Power will benefit from the leak in the same way Game of Thrones did: “The Spoils of War” episode attracted the drama’s biggest audience ever. It scored 10.2 million viewers for its debut, edging out the show’s previous all-time record holder, the recent season 7 premiere, “Dragonstone” (which premiered to 10.1 million episodes and has since climbed to over 30 million viewers in repeats, streaming and DVR playback).
