The Daily Show bids farewell to Anthony Scaramucci
- TV Show
Anthony Scaramucci’s tenure as White House communications director was as brief as it was memorable, and The Daily Show paid a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the fast-talking former Wall Street financier Monday, hours after news broke of his ouster.
Thanks to Trevor Noah and his team, the Scaramucci era — a.k.a., “Late July 2017 – Slightly Later July 2017” — has been immortalized in a 30-second montage of his greatest hits, from his steadfast declarations of love for President Trump to his profane New Yorker rant.
Noah also noted that Scaramucci’s exit came before his first official day on the job. “His official start date as communications director is Aug. 15,” Noah said. “The guy got fired before the job began! That’s like waking up in the morning, looking at the newspaper, and it says, ‘Help wanted, but not you.'”
And in a nod to President Trump’s reality TV past, The Daily Show earlier tweeted an image touting a faux competition show called The Celebrity Appresident, with departed West Wing officials (Scaramucci, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer) whited out. “Who will be the next to go?!” the tweet teased.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
