You didn’t think this was the end of “You didn’t think this was the end,” right?

Descendants 2 concluded its six-network world premiere on July 21 with a cliffhanger that mirrored the final moments of its 2015 predecessor: Like Dove Cameron’s Mal, the film’s protagonist Uma (China Anne McClain) is an averted crisis in and of herself, but she nevertheless turns to the camera with an evil glint in her eye and teases the future of the Descendants series.

As McClain revealed during a stop by EW’s studio, the winking tease wasn’t in the original script she had read — and apparently, neither was the 2015 film’s ending, according to costars Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson, and Booboo Stewart.

And yet, here we are, with two successful launches of Disney Channel’s newest original movie franchise. Naturally, we asked the cast to give us a peek into their wishes for what a possible third Descendants film might entail. Pro tip for its screenwriters: Listen to Cameron Boyce.
