The White House press briefing room microphones were being quite difficult on Friday

Incoming White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci encountered some sound issues during his first briefing. He tried to announce Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ promotion to White House Press Secretary, but had to stop midway through because the microphones weren’t working and none of the reporters in the room could hear his words.

After fumbling with the mics and moving a bit closer, Scaramucci persisted with his announcement. But it was all for naught because the people in the room still couldn’t hear him. So, the former hedge fund manager took a beat and gave the microphones a little test tap. Thanks be to the new god Technical Boy, because the microphones finally started working! Scaramucci announced that he would start over from the beginning so that everyone in the room could hear him.

Luckily, BuzzFeed staffer David Mack captured the hilariously awkward moment and shared it on Twitter. “Just a brilliant, Veep-like start for Trump’s new communications director,” tweeted Mack along with a video of the moment.

Scaramucci created another viral moment at the end of the briefing, signing off with a kiss.
