The beginning of the end has officially arrived for Scandal.

Cast members and creator Shonda Rhimes revealed on social media that the first table read for the seventh and final season of the D.C.-set drama took place Wednesday, and the energy looked palpable.

Posting a brief video of the show’s stars gesticulating and chowing down on pizza, Rhimes wrote, “I love these human beings. #SCANDAL 701 table read today. I cannot WAIT to show you what we have in store…”

Also feeling the love was Bellamy Young, who plays Mellie on the show. Sharing a photo of her posing with costars Kerry Washington (Olivia), Katie Lowes (Quinn), and Darby Stanchfield (Abby), she wrote, “Reunited & it feels so good,” adding several celebratory emojis.

And actor Scott Foley (Jake) tweeted, “We’re back!!! In so many ways.”

Check out some more dispatches from the table read below. Scandal is slated to return this fall on ABC.
