The comedy's first season will debut in two parts on Amazon

The Tick (2001)

Citizens, say hello to your savior! He’s blue! He’s big! He’s bulletproof! Heeeeee‘s… the Tick!

But The Tick, Amazon’s superhero-spoofing comedy debuting its first season in two parts (more on that below), isn’t just about the impossibly strong, absurdly literal hero played by Peter Serafinowicz. Instead, the 12-episode series based on the comic book of the same name will center on an average accountant named Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman), who becomes the Tick’s sidekick and sets out to help protect the City from a sadistic supervillain.

In the exclusive official trailer above, they cross paths and set out on, as the Tick puts it, “an epic tale rife with destiny, adventure, bloodlust, and good against evil!” Not only that, but hugs are hugged and life lessons are learned. One such lesson? “Murder,” the Tick dramatically advises a wary Arthur. “It’s just not cool.”

Produced by The Tick creator Ben Edlund, Barry Josephson (Bones), and David Fury (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), The Tick also stars Valorie Curry, Jackie Earle Haley, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines, Scott Speiser, and Michael Cerveris.

Watch the trailer above. Oh, and because everything involving The Tick must be epic, The Tick‘s first season will be epically split into two parts, with six episodes each. Part 1 arrives Friday, August 25, on Amazon; part 2 arrives in early 2018. As the Tick would say… innnn-credible!
