Bobby Moynihan no longer voicing animated horse on SYFY's Happy!
Entertainment Weekly has learned that Bobby Moynihan is no longer voicing the titular animated horse on the new SYFY show, Happy! The Saturday Night Live veteran is unavailable to play the character because of his increasingly busy schedule. Moynihan is one of the stars of the upcoming CBS sitcom Me, Myself & I.
Happy! is adapted from the graphic novel by writer Grant Morrison and artist Darick Robertson about a corrupt ex-cop turned hitman called Nick Sax (played by Chris Meloni on the show) whose life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue horse named Happy. The show’s executive producers include Morrison and filmmaker Brian Taylor (Crank), who co-wrote the teleplay of the Taylor-directed pilot.
Happy! is set to premiere this fall. SYFY is expected to announce a replacement for Moynihan in the coming weeks.
Meloni, Morrison, Brian Taylor, and showrunner Patrick MacManus will all be attending the Happy! panel at this year’s Comic-Con International at San Diego’s waterfront convention center. The panel takes place in Room 6BCF, July 22, at 2:45 p.m. and will be moderated by EW’s own Tim Leong.
