From Pop's Diner to some new cast additions and a shower scene, sneak a peek at what's happening on the set of the CW series
Season 2 of Riverdale doesn’t premiere for another three months — Oct. 11 to be exact — but thanks to the cast and Archie Comics, we have a glimpse into the upcoming action. Stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Ashleigh Murray, Camila Mendes, Casey Cott, and Mädchen Amick have shared photos on social media of their return to the set featuring the whole gang — Cole Sprouse, Luke Perry, Charles Melton, Molly Ringwald, and season 2 newcomer Mark Consuelos also make appearances.
In the most recent post, Amick snapped a shot of her and Reinhart, who play the contentious mother-daughter pair Alice and Betty Cooper, from the set of Pop’s, the classic diner and regular meeting spot on the CW show.
Amick also tweeted a picture two weeks ago, right when the cast started filming the second season of the retro comic book-turned-teen noir murder mystery drama, in costume with Martin Cummins who plays Sherriff Keller on the show. In the caption, she teases, “actually getting along?! or is she really gunning for his job” — it could very well be true knowing Alice’s penchant for justice… and holding grudges.

Take a look at that and other back-to-work photos from the cast as they begin filming season 2.
Casey Cott, who plays Sherrif Keller’s son Kevin, posted a picture of Instagram of him and his costars alongside a special visitor, former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, whose daughters are apparently fans of the show.
Ashleigh, who portrays the Josie of the show’s Josie and the Pussycats girl band, posted pictures on Twitter of the cast’s reunion, including newcomer Consuelos, who will play Veronica Lodge’s much-anticipated and recently emancipated father, Hiram. Consuelos’ wife Kelly Ripa also made an appearance, wearing a very appropriate Jughead crown.
Calling the filming of season 2, episode 1 “one of the narliest weeks of shooting i’ve done in a wee while,” Apa, who leads the show as Archie, got a lot of likes for the shirtless Instagram he posted last week — from what looks like a shower scene — adding in the caption, “u know what’s up when u get into your trailer in the morning and the only wardrobe you have is a pair of skin coloured jocks.”
Ringwald will make her return as Archie’s absent mother, Mary. The Archic Comics Twitter account shared a pic of her with Apa and Sprouse, who plays the newly-inducted South Side Serpent, Jughead Jones.
Mendes shared this Instagram of her and Apa seemingly from the Canadian set. Mendes plays rich girl (who actually may not be that rich anymore) Veronica Lodge, and Archie Comics posted a photo of her with her on-set family, including Consuelos and Marisol Nichols, who plays mom Hermione Lodge.
This one could be important. At the end of season 1, Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews (Luke Perry), got shot in Pop’s. In an interview with EW, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said the character would be in at least the first episode. In this photo shared by Archie Comics on June 23, Perry is in the background of a photo also featuring Sprouse and Nichols, so fingers crossed he survived!
Charles Melton, who plays meathead footballer Reggie, and AMurray pose as the other Pussycats — Valerie (Hayley Law) and Melody (Asha Bromfield) — go for the photobomb.
With a Starbucks drink in one hand, Jughead (Sprouse) appears to help Betty (Reinhart) do a little car maintenance. “Hard at work on Season 2,” Archic Comics captioned the photo. What a good boyfriend!
