Friends fan theory suggests the whole thing was in Rachel's head
Is this “The One Where Rachel Made It All Up”?
A new theory shared by a fan on Twitter suggests that the entire series took place in Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) head — part of a dream fueled by anxiety about her impending nuptials to Barry. (Rachel makes her debut in the series’ pilot still wearing a wedding dress after having left her fiancé at the altar.)
The theory was part of a flurry of responses to a tweet early Friday morning featuring the Friends season 4 home video box art, which shows the six titular pals sharing a bed. Twitter user Ted Fox wrote, “Serious question: Why is Rachel the only one [with her eyes open]? Theories needed. #FriendsGate”
The question spawned plenty of jokes …
… before Twitter user Phil Dunne weighed in with his theory. “Rachel Green had a dream on the eve of her wedding day,” he wrote. “She didn’t want to marry Barry so she had a major anxiety dream. She created a fantasy in her mind and the five other Friends characters as a way to escape her [spoiled], trapped future life.”
Could the latest Friends fan theory be any more far-fetched? Weigh in in the comments.
