Salvation is coming.

In a plot usually reserved for summer blockbusters, CBS’ new summer series finds a billionaire, MIT grad student, and the government trying to stop an asteroid from colliding with Earth in six months. Ahead of the thriller’s debut on Wednesday, EW is exclusively premiering the first 15 minutes of the series above.

After his research yields some alarming results and his professor goes missing, Liam Cole (Red Band Society‘s Charlie Rowe) rushes to share the news with tech mogul Darius Tanz (Heroes‘ Santiago Cabrera). “Sir, my name is Liam Cole, I’m a student at MIT,” he opens before making an abrupt turn in his introduction. “In 186 days, an asteroid is going to collide with Earth and we’re all gonna die.”

Jennifer Finnigan (Tyrant), Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii 5-0), Jacqueline Byers (Roadies), Shazi Raja (High Maintenance), and Rachel Drance also star on the series.

Salvation airs Wednesday on CBS at 9 p.m. ET.
