Stephen Colbert garnered quite the following during his trip to Russia.

Monday’s Late Show marked the host’s first show since returning from his news-making voyage to the country at the center of the allegations concerning Donald Trump and his administration. Being back in the U.S. was a relief for Colbert, considering the attention he received abroad.

“Man, it is good to be back in the U.S.A.,” he said. “I don’t know if you knew this, but I was in Russia last week. You know who did know I was in Russia? Russian intelligence. Hardcore fans, evidently. Followed me everywhere.”

He continued, “Also got some attention from American intelligence. Couple guys seemed to pop up everywhere we went. But it’s important, keep your eye on a comedian while he’s in Russia doing jokes. I could be giving state secrets to the Russians. Oh wait, someone’s already got that covered.”

The Late Show airs on CBS at 11:35 p.m. ET.
