Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders adds Josh Charles

Josh Charles has joined the cast of Dick Wolf’s limited series Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, EW has learned.

The eight-episode true-crime installment of the Law & Order franchise, which began principal photography on Monday, goes inside the notorious murder case that became a national obsession. The Menendez brothers were tried on national TV in 1994 for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills. Now, the first edition of this anthology series delves into the players, the crime, and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling what went down when the cameras stopped rolling.

Charles (The Good Wife, Sports Night) will play Dr. Jerome Oziel, the Menendez brothers’ controversial psychiatrist, who plays a pivotal role in the case.

The cast also includes Edie Falco (Leslie Abramson), Gus Halper (Erik Menendez), Miles Gaston Villanueva (Lyle Menendez), Chris Bauer (Tim Rutten), Cliff Chamberlain (Detective Tom Linehan), Lolita Davidovich (Kitty Menendez), Anthony Edwards (Judge Stanley Weisberg), Carlos Gomez (Jose Menendez), Heather Graham (Judalon Smyth), Sam Jaeger (Detective Les Zoeller), Constance Marie (Marta Cano), Larry Cedar (Milton Andersen), Julianne Nicholson (Jill Lansing), and Elizabeth Reaser (DDA Pam Ferrero).

Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders will debut Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
