Legends of Tomorrow adds Tala Ashe as a visitor from the future
The Waverider is adding one more member to its superhero squad: American Odyssey and Smash actress Tala Ashe is joining DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 3 in a new series regular role.
Ashe will portray Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030. In her future, technological advances have brought about significant change to civilization, but humanity’s fear, prejudice, and mistreatment of the planet have prompted her to become a “grey hat hacktivist.” Tomaz may be a computer nerd, but she doesn’t yet realize she holds hidden powers derived from a mystical source.
In DC Comics, Tomaz bears the alias Isis, after the ancient Egyptian goddess. Her story on the page is tied to Black Adam, who, after accepting her as a slave, bestows her with a magical amulet that grants its wielder abilities.
When we pick up with the Legends in season 3, they’ll be dealing with the ripple effects of their skirmish with the Legion of Doom, which caused various people, objects, and animals to be scattered across time. Rip Hunter and his Time Bureau have become the new sheriffs in town, but the heroes will reunite to fix what only Legends can fix.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return to The CW Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET this fall.
