Geoff Stults of Unforgettable and Netflix’s Grace and Frankie needs to take a moment of your time to talk about “a very important issue,” one that has plagued about 5,000 guys across the country. Though, admittedly, he “didn’t really do any research” to justify that number.
“My name’s Geoff and I’m tired of people assuming I spell it Jeff,” the actor laments in a PSA-style video for Entertainment Weekly: The Show. It turns out, “G” Geoffs have it much harder than “J” Jeffs. “Do you know what it’s like to have to look your son in the eye and say, ‘I don’t know why grandpa insisted on spelling my name this way’? Neither do I ‘cause I don’t have kids,” he jokes.
“People don’t realize ‘J’ Jeffs use their dominance to bully ‘G’ Geoffs,” Stults adds. “I once saw [Wilco] guitarist Jeff Tweedy give Geoffrey Rush a wedgie at a Korean restaurant in Malibu.”
The problem is as serious as Archer‘s H. Jon Benjamin’s “Tales From the Voice Booth.” So just remember, “The names might sound the same, but they don’t feel the same.”
