To put it mildly: The Game of Thrones cast is pretty enthusiastic about the upcoming season 7.

Ser Jorah Mormont actor Iain Glen told EW that when he first got the scripts for the new season last year, they inspired him to send a message to showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.

“I wrote to Dan and David and I said I thought they were the best seven episodes they’ve ever written,” Glen said.

That’s pretty high praise considering the producers won the Emmy for best writing in a drama series for the past two years (for the season 5 finale, “Mothers Mercy,” and for the epic season 6 episode, “Battle of the Bastards.”)

“The story is going toward a conclusion,” Glen continues. “There’s no sense of treading water. You have storylines colliding. And the evolving drama and relationships are as good as they have ever been. It definitely feels like the beginning of the end game.”

We last saw Ser Jorah being sent away by his queen, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), commanded to find a cure for his creeping greyscale disease, and then hopefully someday return to her (“When I take the Seven Kingdoms, I need you by my side,” she said). This season, Glen says, Ser Jorah’s arc “is all about whether he will survive this horrendous sickness he’s contracted.”

Glen notes that despite his touching hilltop reunion moment with Daenerys last season, he still feels she hasn’t entirely forgiven him for his betrayal all those years ago. “My feeling is Jorah would die a happy man if he could get forgiveness from Daenerys,” he says. “He’s been in that mental territory half his life. He’s always been willing to sacrifices his life for her. His loss of life is not as big for him as seeking her redemption.”
