Person of Interest breakout Sarah Shahi’s sci-fi drama just got a series order at NBC.

The network has greenlit Reverie from Mickey Fisher, the creator of Extant.

Here’s the pitch: “This grounded new thriller follows Mara Kint (Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when she’s brought in to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams, she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself.”

Also in the cast: Dennis Haysbert, Jessica Lu, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Kathryn Morris. Shahi previously also had roles on Chicago Fire and Fairly Legal.

NBC is in the middle of making all its tough decisions for next season — selecting which pilots to greenlight to series and which current shows to renew and cancel (see Deathwatch for the latest on bubble show fates). On Thursday, NBC network gave a series order to Good Girls, a comedy starring Mae Whitman (Parenthood) and Retta (Parks and Recreation).
