Kellyanne Conway inspires epic Anderson Cooper eye roll
Days after Saturday Night Live asked “Where in the World Is Kellyanne Conway?” the current Counselor to the President appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 to discuss Donald Trump’s recent firing of FBI Director James Comey — and in the process, inspired an epic eye roll from Cooper.
The host had been questioning Conway about the dismissal, specifically because the surprising move was in direct contrast with the sentiments Trump expressed while on the campaign trail, where he often praised Comey’s choice to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
When asked about this, Conway defended Trump’s decision, stating that the president had lost confidence in the FBI director after newly-appointed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein recommended that Comey be fired for making serious mistakes during his handling of the investigation. Conway also didn’t address the president’s sudden change in opinion, instead pivoting to how she’d appeared on Cooper’s show in the fall and predicted that they would win Michigan. Thus prompting Cooper’s pronounced eye roll.
Comey’s firing on Tuesday came as a big shock as not only did his investigation into Clinton’s emails benefit Trump during the 2016 election, but also because the FBI is currently investigating whether or not Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to interfere in the election.
Cooper’s recent reaction has since gone over well on Twitter. Here is just some of the internet’s response:
This isn’t the first time Cooper and Conway have gone toe-to-toe. In January, she appeared on his show and questioned the validity of a CNN report claiming that top intelligence officials had presented Trump (then a President-elect) with a list of allegations that Russian operatives may be in possession of compromising personal and financial information about him.
