There's a new Guardian for the sequel, and his name is Guillermo.
There’s a new Guardian in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his name is Guillermo. Actually, he’s just an extra, but Jimmy Kimmel’s right-hand man at least got to meet Chris Pratt (a.k.a. Star-Lord) on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and film a cameo. But first, Guillermo needs help with one crucial task: “How do you act?”
According to his buddy, Pratt, “three looks” are all you need to be a successful actor: happy, sad, and scared. Guillermo’s second tip came from his favorite actor, “Tango” (Kurt Russell), playing Ego the Living Planet in the Marvel movie. “Just remember this one thing: whatever you do, don’t f— it up,” Russell advised.
With his arsenal of acting knowhow, Guillermo was ready to get into costume. After sitting in the makeup chair and comparing nipples with Drax actor Dave Bautista, he came out on set dressed as Cop #2. As director James Gunn said at the Atlanta-based Pinewood Studios set, “We’re gonna have you standing with another guy by the name of Matt and he’s gonna be telling people to stand back and you’re gonna have his back.”
Back on the late-night stage, Kimmel revealed the Guardians clip featuring Guillermo. However, all of his dialogue was cut, so you’ll have to squint to see his head as a giant blue mass sweeps over Earth.
