The inaugural MTV Movie & TV Awards is getting weird.

Adam DeVine is set to host the event, which will air live from L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium on May 7. After 25 years of celebrating movies, MTV is now incorporating television into its annual awards show.

The Workaholics star and co-creator recently wrapped his Comedy Central series after seven seasons. Last summer, Pitch Perfect actor DeVine had his biggest film role to date, starring alongside Zac Efron in the raunchy R-rated comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

"I feel like I am the biggest movie and television star together as one," he joked to PEOPLE. "Will Smith might have something to say about that but they didn't ask him [to host], they asked me. So who's the bigger star? It's him, but I'm doing the best with what I have."

MTV will reveal the show's nominees on Thursday. Casey Patterson, who took the reins of the show last year, returns as executive producer, working alongside MTV's Garrett English. <iframe src="" width="512" height="288" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="" scrolling="no" resize="0" replace_attributes="1" name=""></iframe>
