And Spicer responds!

One of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s go-to responses when speaking about the Trump administration is that it’s doing a “phenomenal” job. It’s become such a common refrain that Stephen Colbert set it to music — and not just any music, but Muppet music.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert enlisted the furry pink creatures known as the Snowths to provide the backing vocals for a Spicer-led remix of “Mah Na Mah Na,” substituting “phenomenal” for the nonsense phrase.” It worked surprisingly well, thanks in part to the Snowths’ signature “do doo do do doos.”

Spicer appeared to take the joke in stride. Shortly after The Late Show tweeted the clip, the press secretary replied, “You owe @MatthewNussbaum a little credit.” He was referring to the Politico reporter who wrote an article last week about Spicer’s frequent use of “phenomenal.”

The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
