Stephen Colbert slams Donald Trump's climate change policy
'I know clean coal sounds like an oxymoron, but so does President Trump.'
Climate change was a hot topic on Tuesday with the release of the first trailer for An Inconvenient Sequel and Donald Trump signing an executive order that will radically alter how the U.S. approaches global warming. During Tuesday’s Late Show, host Stephen Colbert weighed in, slamming the president’s emphasis on clean coal. “I know clean coal sounds like an oxymoron, but so does President Trump,” he deadpanned.
After further mocking the idea of clean coal with references to the Keebler elves and Narnia, Colbert went to a special correspondent to comment on companies no longer needing to consider climate change when making business decisions.
“You are not legally required to give a hoot,” chirped Woodsy Owl, playing off the motto of the famous U.S. Forest Service mascot. “So go pollute. F— the planet.”
