President Donald Trump has inaugurated back in January, but he’s already seemingly started his campaign for the 2020 election, hosting rallies across the country. To keep tabs on the president, The Daily Show is already on the beat — because as host Trevor Noah said on Tuesday night’s show, “Where there’s a Trump rally, there’s Jordan Klepper.”
In “Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse” segment from Tuesday’s episode, Klepper ventured to a campaign rally in Nashville that was paid for by Trump’s 2020 reelection committee. The question on Jordan’s mind: Why is this still going on?
“Because Donald Trump’s the man,” one attendee told Klepper in the video below.
Klepper had a more substantive answer to the question. “Reason number one: He’s making money that goes straight into his campaign fund. Number two: it’s not a public event, guaranteeing that these are his people,” said Klepper. “In other words, a classic Trump rally full misogynistic t-shirt, minorities getting kicked the f— out, and Trump supporters like this reacting to minority protesters.”
Klepper also spoke to a bunch of supporters, who were willing to outline the goals for the 2020 campaign, which included locking up the opposition and keep “Islam out of the country, because it’s evil,” as one “Make America Great Again” hat-wearing supporter said.
