Seth Meyers blasts Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch's folksy evasiveness
'Does he want to be a judge in Mayberry?'
Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch may be charming some Republican lawmakers at his ongoing confirmation hearings, but Late Night host Seth Meyers is a bit more skeptical.
On Wednesday’s episode of Late Night, Meyers called out Judge Gorsuch for his caginess, noting he’s done “everything he could during the hearings to evade even the most straightforward questions using folksy mannerisms to charm the panel.”
Meyers then played a supercut of Gorsuch peppering his remarks with expressions like “gosh,” “golly,” and “goodness no.”
“Does he want to be a judge in Mayberry?” Meyers asked in reference to the fictional Andy Griffith Show setting. “Because I think even Aunt Bee would be like, ‘Answer the question, a‑‑hole.'”
