It’s a tale as old as time on The Tonight Show: Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday cracked open his Box of Microphones to perform classic songs with different vocal effects. This time around, however, his duet guest was Josh Gad, who performed hits from Frozen and his new movie Beauty and the Beast.

Gad is also known for his Broadway pipes in The Book of Mormon, but you couldn’t really tell as his voice was barely audible under the high-pitched chipmunk microphone effect for “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman.” Randomly picking an orange mic, he squeaked out, “I love that.”

The Daft Punk-esque mic offered Gad a few more favors as he teamed with Fallon on the titular song from Beauty and the Beast, but they were soon swapping between monster and chipmunk effects. The Tonight Show host, too, gave an auto-tuned rendition of “Circle of Life” from The Lion King that Gad joked was “literally the teaser for the teaser” to the song.

“Why did you have to do so much less than I did?” his guest laughed.

Watch them duet in the clip above.
