House Speaker Paul Ryan found himself in an awkward position Monday when the right-wing website Breitbart News released audio of him criticizing then-Republican presidential nominee Trump during a private conference call back in October, amid Trump’s hot-mic scandal.

With Ryan now attempting to work with Trump to push through an Obamacare replacement, Stephen Colbert is calling out the speaker over his about-face.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show, Colbert played a snippet of the leaked call in which Ryan said, “I am not going to defend Donald Trump — not now, not in the future,” following the leaked 2005 Access Hollywood footage in which Trump made graphic comments about women.

Colbert quipped that Ryan might as well have added, “By ‘in the future,’ of course, I mean between now and the election. After that I’m going to fold like a Trump casino.”

Colbert went on to suggest that Ryan recently “underwent major surgery” to have something removed — watch the clip below to find out what.

The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
