Susan Sarandon has lined up another television project.
Showtime announced Monday the Oscar-winning actress has joined the cast of its Liev Schreiber-fronted crime drama Ray Donovan.
The Feud: Bette and Joan star will have a season-long guest arc across the series’ upcoming fifth season. She is set to play Samantha Winslow, a “strong, focused head of a motion picture studio,” according to a press release.
Following the announcement, Sarandon expressed her excitement in joining the show, tweeting that she’s “thrilled” about the gig.
Primarily known for her work on the big screen, including starring turns in films like Stepmom, Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sarandon has also earned recognition for her television endeavors; Since 2001, she has received four Emmy nominations for her work on HBO movies (2006’s Bernard and Doris, 2010’s You Don’t Know Jack) and popular series (she guest-starred on both Malcolm in the Middle and Friends) alike.
Since its 2013 premiere, Ray Donovan has earned seven Emmy nods, winning one in September for Hank Azaria’s season 4 guest spot.
Though an exact date has yet to be confirmed, Showtime indicates Ray Donovan — one of its most popular programs, averaging 5.1 million viewers across all platforms for season 4 — will return this summer.
