Keith Morrison has been a correspondent on Dateline for many years, so the man knows a thing or two about conducting interviews (and leaning on things, but we’ll get to that).

What he doesn’t know all that much about is getting interviewed. In honor of Dateline‘s 25th anniversary, superfan Kristen Bell turned the tables on Morrison (after making sure he wasn’t leaning on them) and asked the hard-hitting questions.

After running through the basics of his long career, the Good Place star got Morrison to reveal the secret behind his velvety smooth pipes. “Vodka, lots of vodka and ice,” Morrison joked, before elaborating on the fact that his mother was a music teacher who instilled the importance of a good ear in a young Morrison.

“Do you, at the very least, take your mic out for dinner and a movie before you record?” Bell asked. Morrison laughed the question off, before taking yet another tough question from Bell: Has he ever seen Bill Hader’s Saturday Night Live impression of himself?

“It’s very funny,” Morrison said. “The first time it happened, I was on the West Coast, I had a daughter living on the East Coast, and I get this call at 9 o’clock at night in L.A. She’s screaming on the phone — I couldn’t tell what the problem was — and then eventually she managed to get out that I had to watch Saturday Night Live.”

He later added: “I didn’t know whether to s— or go blind. I mean, it’s weird when somebody does that.”

Bell admitted the only people who parody her are her husband, Dax Shepard, and their two children, and quickly moved on to a more important subject: Morrison’s legendary lean.

“Have you noticed that these reporters go on camera, and they’re trying to explain a story and they’ll be [waves hands] doing this a lot? Drives me crazy,” Morrison said. “So it was in response to that. I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just lean on something.’ It’s more casual. We’re just talking here. We’re not doing a circus act.”

Bell also brought up the Instagram account Keith Leans on Things, which tracks Morrison (you guessed it!) leaning on everything from a lawn chair to a ladder.

Dateline airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
