USA Network's Unsolved pilot casts its Biggie and Tupac
USA Network has cast Wavyy Jonez and Marcc Rose as Biggie and Tupac, respectively
USA Network’s Unsolved: The Murders of Biggie and Tupac pilot has found its leading men in newcomer Wavyy Jonez and Straight Outta Compton‘s Marcc Rose, respectively.
Rose previously tackled the role of Tupac Shakur in Compton, which also served as the 24-year-old’s acting debut. Jonez, meanwhile, will make his debut in the pilot following a nationwide open casting call.
The show is a true crime serial that will focus on the two major police investigations launched after the murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G., two of the biggest rap superstars to ever emerge from the genre.
Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas in 1996, while Biggie was murdered six months later in Los Angeles. Both killings remain unsolved, and the show will center on the experiences of former LAPD Detective Greg Kading, who lead multiple law-enforcement task forces in investigating the murders.
Jonez and Rose will join Josh Duhamel as Kading, Jimmi Simpson as Detective Russell Poole, and Bokeem Woodbine as Officer Daryn Dupree in the pilot.
