Jeff Sessions news deflates Seth Meyers' 'celebration' of Donald Trump's progress
After Donald Trump’s Tuesday night address to Congress, Seth Meyers was ready to celebrate the president’s strides to get things under control. Unfortunately, the recent Jeff Sessions news deflated the party.
On Thursday’s Late Night, Meyers began his latest Closer Look segment by preparing to give the president credit after Trump “reset the narrative” of his presidency.
“I have been hard on him, but I think it’s only fair that we take a minute to celebrate,” the host shared. “In fact, I got some balloons right here. And I’m going to start blowing them up to celebrate the fact that Trump finally has everything under control.”
The party was quickly put on hold as news clips interrupted Meyers revealing that the new Attorney General had and failed to disclose prior contact with Russian officials. That let the air out of Meyers and his balloon. “And we had f—ing fireworks too,” he added.
