Dynasty reboot casts Grant Show as Blake Carrington
The CW has found its silver-haired fox!
EW has learned that Grant Show (Devious Maids, Melrose Place) will assume the role of billionaire Blake Carrington on the network’s reboot of the classic ’80s sudser. Like the original that starred John Forsythe and Linda Evans, the updated reboot will follow the wealthy Carrington and Colby clans.
In this version, the series will be told through the perspectives of Fallon Carrington — Blake’s daughter — and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into the WASP family. Nathalie Kelley (The Vampire Diaries) will play Cristal and Elizabeth Gillies (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) is Fallon, while Sam Adegoke (Murder in the First) is Jeff Colby and Rob Riley (Hit the Floor) is Culhane.
As of right now, the project is just at the pilot stage, though it seems like a shoo-in for fall 2017 given its auspices: It’s from Gossip Girl’s Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with Dynasty’s original creators Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro. Sallie Patrick (Revenge) will be the reboot’s showrunner.
The original Dynasty from uber-producer Aaron Spelling launched in 1981 and ran for nine seasons and 220 episodes.
