Tony Almeida might be in danger when he turns up on 24: Legacy.

In an exclusive first look at Carlos Bernard’s return as the disgraced former CTU, Tony Almeida ducks behind cover to avoid what looks like a laser from a sniper rifle. Bernard, who played Almeida in the original series for six seasons plus a DVD extra, will make his grand entrance in the March 13 episode.

Executive producer Manny Coto previously told EW that “Tony’s dark past comes back to haunt Rebecca in some way,” and it seems the synopsis for Bernard’s first episode sheds a bit more light on what he meant by that: “Rebecca calls in someone from the outside when CTU’s regular interrogation techniques lead them to a dead end.”

“What’s fun about it is that it’s not just, ‘Hey, I’m Tony Almeida.’ There’s a previous relationship — not necessarily a romantic relationship — with one of our characters,” Coto teased. “He seemed to be a character we hadn’t seen in a while and we thought at a certain point in the season — after the season had gotten its own legs and was off running — that it would be fun to bring in someone from the old seasons.”
