As Jake Ballard, Scott Foley may be used to fixing political problems on Scandal, but thanks to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he got a chance to show off his house-fixing skills!

The actor revealed his love of home renovation shows in an interview for Wednesday’s episode of DeGeneres’ show, citing his love of HGTV’s Fixer Upper and Property Brothers and PBS’ classic series This Old House.

“I’ve always wanted to be the guy who says, ‘I’m Scott Foley for This Old House!'” said the actor, sharing his “ridiculous fantasy” with DeGeneres during their interview. “If they could call me up and say, ‘You want to host an episode?’ Dream job!”

To help the Scandal star realize his dream, DeGeneres gave Foley the chance to film an audition for the show, which saw the actor read from a prompter and use the various tools placed in front of him as props.

“I’m the perfect person to host This Old House. I’m very passionate about taking things that are older, and making them seem young,” said Foley, reading from the script DeGeneres wrote for him. “Can you even guess how old I am? That’s right. I’m 78 years old.”

As you can see from the clip above, DeGeneres even managed to make a few Scandal references, with Foley saying, “I hope to be the Olivia Pope of public television. And unlike her, I’ll fix things for free!”
