Jeopardy!: MIT student wins big for 'Spiciest Memelord' answer
'Who is the Spiciest Memelord?' That would be Lilly Chan.
“Who is the Spiciest Memelord?” That would be Lilly Chin, the 21-year-old MIT senior who took home Jeopardy!‘s College Championship title for her meme-worthy answer.
Since the episode aired, video of Chin’s win has gone viral. The contestants, including Viraj Mehta from Stanford University and Gary Tse from the United States Naval Academy, were posed with this final challenge: “Astronomer who began his epitaph, ‘I used to measure the heavens, now I shall measure the shadows of Earth.'”
Because Chin was already far enough ahead of her competitors, she was guaranteed a win. So, she wrote down, “Who is the Spiciest Memelord?” and entered the hallowed halls of viral stardom with the hefty sum of $100,000.
She even became a meme herself.
“It’s mostly a shout-out to my friends at home,” Chin, an electrical engineering and computer science major with a minor in mechanical engineering, said of her answer. “They watch meme videos all the time, and they’ll like this a lot.”
